Honeymoon | Part VI

Finally! I think I have made it through all of honeymoon photos, thanks for hanging in there. If you’re still there. Are you? Hello? Is this thing on?

Craig was getting artistic, photographing through the foliage and all.
Loved the fire pits on the beach at night.
Such a romantic setting.
This is the entrance to the main lobby, we were waiting on our car for the airport.
We really had the time of our lives on this trip, it was absolutely perfect. I could not have asked for anything more. It was our first time away, alone, in almost 10 years and it was well worth the wait.
Aww, please don’t worry, my sexy, hunkuva-husband, I promise we will do this again soon!

Honeymoon | Part V

Such a handsome devil!

On this particular evening, we reserved a private dinner on the beach, complete with our own butler.
We passed the camera back and forth to take photos. Ha. There is something almost indescribable that I love about his arms. The tone, texture, I’m not sure, but I think they are sexy.
We tried to set the camera on a ledge to use the timer, and we almost got it right.
Apparently, I was the only one who received the “make a funny face” memo.
Our butler was wonderful; so attentive and personable. He used my camera to take a few photos for us.
We took this opportunity to celebrate our twelve year anniversary. I can’t even believe it’s been that long! And I’m still crazy about him!
The sunset was beautiful. And perfect.
And I’m really digging the flare he captured!
This shot was taken by the resort photographer with his own camera. Their lens selection is interesting. The sky looks amazing, but the pose seems awkward and shooting it at 18mm distorts everything. Oh well, still fun!

Honeymoon | Part IV

We were super excited on this particular morning because we scored a cabana.
It was soooo heavenly. You could swim, enjoy the sun, then take a break with a cool drink (and your iPad) in the shade.

If I am remembering correctly, there are only five cabana’s on the beach, and naturally, everyone wants one. Scarcity of supply creates high demand.
The first morning we tried to get near the pool, we were unable because every single chair was reserved. In this case, the couple probably had this service included with their room.
But in other cases, people would come down VERY early in the morning to reserve a spot by placing their belongings on a chair.
The problem is that many people would reserve a chair, or a cabana, and then NEVER use it. On the day we used the cabana, Craig went down at 6am (he’s an early riser) and enjoyed the sun rise. He came back for breakfast and then we spent the rest of the day enjoying our prime real estate.  Of course no one reads, or follows rules, but I honestly could not believe how incredibly rude people can be. I think it’s fine to reserve your spot, but use it for heaven’s sake! One couple in particular put their towels and books in a cabana for three days in a row and never once used it. Finally, on the third day, another couple moved their things and claimed their spot.
The chairs on the beach were usually open, probably because there were so many of them.
Anywho, we had a small photo session on the beach, I love when my husband takes my photo. He always makes me feel sexy.
Isn’t that blue sky and clear water amazing?!

Honeymoon | Part III

This is where most of the resort weddings take place. It is very beautiful, but I couldn’t see myself standing there at noon, in the blazing heat, getting married. And there is more to consider:
At this point in the day (early morning), there wasn’t anyone around. But as they day progressed, more people were on the beach. Which means there were groups of strangers that would gather around as people were married. Yes, of course it’s fun to watch a wedding, but can you imagine your formal event with the presence of an obnoxious European in a speedo? I don’t mean to stereotype, but from what I witnessed nearly every single day, they had no respect for the fact that people were getting MARRIED. They would get ridiculously close with their camera’s and laugh, and talk, with their schlangers practically hanging in the wind. Nice.
Another section of the pool area.

I know, I’m pale ya’ll. It’s just who I am.I’m not wearing any makeup, a very rare event, but we were in paradise and soooo relaxed.
This was the view from the pizza cafe. We loved their pizza for lunch. Along with a hummingbird (strawberry/banana mudslide), it was perfection.
We were dressed up to get our photos taken by the resort photographer and then head to dinner. I didn’t have high expectations for our photo shoot, but I thought it would be fun. And it was. But the photos? Ehh, notsomuch. She was very nice, but I don’t think she is really into photography.
This is one of the photos that she took, and I know we look ridiculous, but what can ya do?

Kinzua | Part III

Well, I’m finally wrapping up the camping expedition posts, and judging from the photos and Ella’s journal, they had a fantastic time.

Ella writes:

Today when we woke up we got up very slowly. For breakfast we had plain scrambled eggs, bacon, and pieces of pitatoes. It was deliousious. Next we got ready to go on our adventure. For our adventure we went on a hike on rimrock trail. Went to kinzua dam, ate lunch at McDonalds because we were so good, went shopping in town, and had ice cream.

Evan told me that his favorite part of the trip was his “pee tree.” I’ll spare you the photo.
I am so thankful that the kiddos had the opportunity to spend the week camping with the grandparents. And the best part? Now that we know they can do it, we can get away more often!
